France 2016, 80’ (O.V. with Italian and English subtitles)
Special screening, first Italian release
We have never seen so much pornography as in these years, and yet, the good old porn industry is dying. The rollout of websites containing amateurish videos or pirated clips, has radically changed pornography consumption. Production studios are closing, and actresses are forced to shoot more extreme sexual scenes for even lower remunerations. What, or better yet who, is hiding behind this transformation is Manwin (or MindGeek), a not very transparent multinational that owns Pornhub, YouPorn and other thirty-five labels. Its founder Fabian Thylmann has been arrested for tax fraud. In this investigation, the feminist icon Ovidie uncovers the fact that a group of programmers without any experience in pornography has been successful in taking possession of the adult entertainment industry. But there’s more: Ovidie investigates also on the controversies of Manwin’s financial structures, which, despite the numerous investigations, remains profitable, and indeed keeps generating high profits. How can this be even possible? Who’s pulling the strings?
