THE MAFIA EATS UP ROME. 40 YEARS OF CRIMINAL BUSINESSES FROM BANDA DELLA MAGLIANA TO OUR DAYS
with Lirio Abbate, Guy Chiappaventi and Vito Foderà
For many years now, Lirio Abbate has lived under armed guard because of his journalistic investigations on mobsters. From Palermo to Rome. At the end of 2012, before the so-called “Mafia Capital” case broke out, he informed the newspaper Espresso about the then-current criminal map of Rome, from which the key role of Massimo Carminati arose; a man with a background of right-wing extremism in the NAR and in the Banda della Magliana. Starting from Abbate’s latest work, the documentary-film “L’uomo nero” (The Black Man), realized for the TV channel La7 together with Guy Chiappaventi, shows the story of Carminati and the unfolding of criminal plots and affairs in Rome; an overview from the mysterious robbery in the bank vault in Rome, seat of the Court of Justice, till Mafia Capital.
